CASTE AND RELIGION IN INDIAN SOCIETY
INTRODUCTION
In the history of human beings, at every part of the world, Humans are always differentiated from one another. They form different groups and community on certain grounds which has always paved way for conflicts and war. The notion of superiority from other communities lead to the tension between different groups. Such communities formed on the basis of worship of god are called religions and those formed on the basis of occupations(Jobs) are called castes. Wanna know details about them in Indian society?....Let's go...
RELIGION
People believed different forms of god and they form different religions. Hinduism forms the major religion of the country with around 75% of the population identifying them as Hindus. Islam forms around 16% of the country's population which came to India on 7th century by Arab traders. Christianity forms around 3% and it is brought up by Britishers in 1608. Since the India's second majority religions came by foreign invasions, the country has a variety of cultural mix. Religious sentiments form a major agenda in the election manifestos too.
CASTE SYSTEM
Caste system is an unique division system in the human race. Here people are divided based on their birth. If a baby born in a family of elite caste, without no option he/she belongs to that specific caste. This caste system is described in the ancient Hindu scripts based on the occupation of the people. But the major problem is that a person cannot change his occupation/caste according to their will. This leads to the problem of social injustice that a certain group of people are labelled as untouchables. They cannot enter the places such as temples, residencies of the elite castes. They are only meant for doing slave works. Only the Indian subcontinent possesses such a system which needs to be identified and corrected from the grassroot levels which is the greatest challenge for the Indian government. Without rectifying these problems, India can never think of its dream of becoming a superpower.
CONCLUSION
Coming through all the aspects, it is clear that the Indian society is always a unique one from the rest in both good and bad things. Such a country should be handled in a very safe and cautious manner otherwise it leads to the further bifurcation of the country into several parts. Till now, only brotherhood and harmony has kept this nation tightly under the same roof. It's our duty to maintain the same to reach new heights......
