COP 28 TOO BECOMING ANOTHER SCRAP PAPER BUNDLE??
INTRODUCTION
Climatic change, Global warming, Rising sea levels, Ozone depletion are some of the most common phrases we can go through when we read the newspaper after any major global summit took place. But most of the times, these phrases are only drafted on papers and no one cares about it in the real world. This may be due to the practical complications is implementing those practices. Let's get a brief analysis on this.....
COP 28 AND ITS RESOLUTIONS
The Conference of the Parties(COP) 28 meeting which is held in UAE last year released the final resolutions of the meeting called Dubai Consensus. Several resolutions were made in the consensus which is signed by 197 member countries has lead to the rise of several debates.
Some of the key resolutions made in the consensus are
- Countries to reduce the usage of fossil fuels
- Loss and damage fund should be provided to developing and under developed nations
Let's see the point of views of different group of countries about these resolutions.....
From Developed countries' view.....
They wanted a strict language in the consensus that the fossil fuels to be brutally phased out from the world in development processes.
From Developing countries' view....
They are not much satisfied with the decision of reduction of fossil fuels as their economic growth solely depends on fossil fuels and they argue that the developed countries are developed today by polluting the environment in the past and now they are claiming to phase out fossil fuels from the entire world.
From Underdeveloped countries' view....
They claim the loss and damage funds from the developed countries as a compensation for the climatic changes made by the developed world. But sadly they don't even get 1/100th of the demanded money.
Hence, according to the consensus, none of the sections of the world are satisfied by the consensus. This indirectly indicates that......
"These resolutions too remain in papers as the previous ones !!!"
